CAMPER'S "WHAT-TO-BRING-TO-CAMP" LIST

Download List

WELCOME KIRKMONT CENTER. The following list will help you to prepare for and get the most out of your time at camp. Bring functional, well-broken-in, ready-for-action, outdoor, hot weather, appropriate/nonrevealing clothing. Old comfortable clothes are preferred. Storage space in cabents is limited. If possible, pack in "soft" luggage that can easily be stuffed under beds or in small spaces. Mark your clothes with your name (makes identifying Lost and Found items easier).

SIGNED MEDICAL form and any MEDICATION you are currently taking must be brought with you and given to the nurse on registration day. The signed Participant Agreement and the "What to Expect" form will be given to the Weekly Volunteer Director during check-in.

Essential to Bring:

  • A Bible that the camper feels comfortable reading and using
  • Bed linens for single bed, pillow and blanket.
  • Towels (at least 2), washcloth, soap, shampoo.
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, feminine necessities and any other toilet articles. (A small carrying case or mesh bag for these items is convenient when walking to bathhouse.)
  • Flashlight and spare batteries.
  • 4 to 7 complete changes of clothes (depending upon length of stay at camp...fewer of each item for short period of time; more for a full week) including shorts and long pants, t-shirts and a long-sleeved shirt.
  • Shoes: 2 pairs (well broken-in, covering camper's toes. and which stay securely on camper's feet). One pair suitable and comfortable for hiking and games; one pair you don't mind getting wet. Sandals/flip-flops are good for the pool and bathhouse.
  • Socks, Socks, Socks and Underwear, Underwear, Underwear…these are very important!
  • Rainwear and hat (ponchos are fine). These items are essential.
  • Re-usable water bottle (we'll have some for sale) with camper name on it that is easy to carry around camp.
  • Swim suit...appropriate and non-revealing (an extra one is helpful though not necessary).
  • Sweater, sweat shirt/pants for cool weather.
  • Pajamas.
  • Sunblock and lotion type insect repellent (leave spray kinds at home).

    Also Useful Items to Bring:
  • Sleeping bag, if available
  • Writing materials in a scalable plastic bag to keep them dry (stamps, cards, pen, envelopes, paper).
  • Dirty clothes bag.

YOU MAY WISH TO BRING:
sunglasses; inexpensive or disposable camera (it could get damaged); appropriate books for rest time reading.

HIGH ADVENTURE CAMPERS (Not 3-8 Adventure Campers) NEED TO BRING the following items if possible: Bike helment, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, clothes that can be easily layerd/shed, bike (if available)

PLEASE LEAVE AT HOME: All electronic games; cell phones; beepers; alcohol, non-prescription drugs, and tobacco products; firearms and fireworks; comic books; food and candy. We encourage close community living and facing challenges in the outdoor world. These items may prevent campers from trying new things, risking new relationships, discovering their talents and offering them to the group. Food/candy in the cabents creates sanitation problems and attracts undesirable "critters" and insects. If any of the above items arrive at camp, we will kindly ask parents/guardians to take the items home, or we will hold them in the office until the camper leaves.

PLEASE BRING: Only those clothes which are appropriate (non-revealing, non-suggestive) and have messages consistent with our goal of building Christian community.
